Studying Foreign Languages

Every foreign language has its own momentum.

LSLC has a unique curriculum because we combine two methods of language teaching: traditional grammar-focused teaching, and a more progressive communicative approach. Most modern Russian schools follow either traditional or communicative methods and learners usually have difficulties in having more grammar theory (based on the traditional method) or having classes oriented only to conversation (based on the communicative method). Students who study by our system have the opportunity to learn grammar deeply, but also get experience with practical usage for short period.

The language of poems and drama

Golden Age of Russian Poetry is the name traditionally applied by Russian philologists to the first half of the 19th century. It is also called the Age of Pushkin, after its most significant poet (in Nabokov's words, the greatest poet this world was blessed with since the time of Shakespeare).

Dostoevsky and War and Peace

Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky became internationally renowned to the point that many scholars such as F. R. Leavis have described one or the other as the greatest novelist ever. Anton Chekhov excelled in writing short stories and became perhaps the leading dramatist internationally of his period.

We update our books every six months after the feedback review from students and Conversation Classes are often tailored to the students.

In addition to our language learning curriculum, our program is also augmented by opportunities to better understand the cultural context in which the language is presented. This context is provided via the content of the language learning materials presented in classes, both via culture notes and authentic materials. Further, we offer our students full language emersion with our network of local home stays.
