Studying Foreign Languages
Every foreign language has its own momentum.
LSLC has a unique curriculum because we combine two methods of language teaching: traditional grammar-focused teaching, and a more progressive communicative approach. Most modern Russian schools follow either traditional or communicative methods and learners usually have difficulties in having more grammar theory (based on the traditional method) or having classes oriented only to conversation (based on the communicative method). Students who study by our system have the opportunity to learn grammar deeply, but also get experience with practical usage for short period.

A perfect language for traveling

The language of poems and drama
Golden Age of Russian Poetry is the name traditionally applied by Russian philologists to the first half of the 19th century. It is also called the Age of Pushkin, after its most significant poet (in Nabokov's words, the greatest poet this world was blessed with since the time of Shakespeare).
Dostoevsky and War and Peace
Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky became internationally renowned to the point that many scholars such as F. R. Leavis have described one or the other as the greatest novelist ever. Anton Chekhov excelled in writing short stories and became perhaps the leading dramatist internationally of his period.
We update our books every six months after the feedback review from students and Conversation Classes are often tailored to the students.
In addition to our language learning curriculum, our program is also augmented by opportunities to better understand the cultural context in which the language is presented. This context is provided via the content of the language learning materials presented in classes, both via culture notes and authentic materials. Further, we offer our students full language emersion with our network of local home stays.

What our students are saying
I studied Russian in Denmark for about a year before I arrived in Bishkek, but while studying at LSLC, I gained the confidence to converse with native Russian speakers and to really express myself in Russian. The curriculum is very intensive and built around the needs of the individual student. You set the pace of your own classes and decide what subjects are important for your studies. The teachers are great at what they do and I felt that they all love teaching foreigners Russian. The office was always ready to help me with any problems I might have concerning classes, visas, travelling around the country and just about anything else. Most importantly, I never felt alone. I can warmly recommend studying at LSLC to all other Russian students looking for a great learning and cultural experience.Martin, Canada
For me, this was the first time learning Russian. Since I hadn't heard Russian before coming here, I have covered a lot in my 3 week stay here. The staff has been so kind and made me feel so welcome. I was afraid of coming here originally, but my homestay was very helpful and I felt comfortable.Haruka Ozeki, Japan
I've learnt to express myself much better in Kyrgyz. My homestay was very good. Everyone was so friendly and the food was excellent! As far as I know, the LSLC delivers possibilities not found anywhere else in Central Asia. Nowhere else can a traveller find immersion language programs in local villages at less than 4 dollars a day.Jane Reynolds, USA
The teachers coordinate joint classes very well and were attentive to my needs. I am an anthropologist studying post-Soviet notions of morality. The administration was extremely helpful linking me with local villages in the Issyk-Kul Region where I could conduct research. I felt very welcome in my host family and they took care to speak Kyrgyz to me. Kudos to Kendje for providing such great services!Maria Louw, Denmark
My experience here was the best experience I've ever had, and I do realize the improvement in my language. Sometimes I surprise myself, because now I speak so fluently. Thank you very much!Helen Howard
